Fancy Image Library For SharePoint2010

A New Experience to view images in SharePoint2010 Image Library. Deploy it yourself, without developer.

This is a purely SharePoint2010 Client Object Model based customisation of Out Of Box image Library that displays larger versions of thumbnail images fetched dynamically to provide a new User Experience. Caption can be added to the enlarged image through Add/Edit form, and every aspect of the Image Gallery exists as plain HTML on the page. The idea is to use JSOM, Css, Jquery and FancyBox jquery extension to view images with advanced UI.

When end user clicks on the thumbnail, the linked image is fetched from the server and rendered in the overlay alond with the Description. all the thumbnail images are indexed exluding the items that are not image type (that are not supported by SharePoint2010) and when user clicks next / previous button the image at the next index is fetched and get rendered in the overlay.

This solution is compatible with SharePoint2010, Moreover it doesnot need any kind of server access for deployment.
Please refer the video for deployment and roll back.

The gallery works in IE7+, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, IPad, Iphone.

Please consider that i have implemented it to work only with "All Assets" view of image library and not with "Thumbnail" view as thumbnail view has different functionality then user hover/ clicks on the thumbnail images.
you can set the "All Assets" view as default view or use it in separate  list view WebPart.

Steps To Deploy

  1. Download the attached file and extract it.
  2. Goto you site(SharePoint site collection) > Site Actions > Site Settings.
  3. Under Galleries open Solutions Or Navigate to "http://<site url>/_catalogs/solutions/Forms/AllItems.aspx"
  4. Upload the extracted wsp and activate it from the ribbon (this will open a dialog box you have to again click on activate link from the ribbon of this dialog box).
  5. Now goto "Manage Features" and activate "MicroCosmic Solutions FancyImageLibrary" feature.

That it deployment is done , Now you are ready to use it.

Watch the attached video for more assistance.

NOTE: Since its a sandbox solution so  You must make sure that your “Sharepoint 2010 User Code Host” service is running. For this you have to make sure that this service’s status is active in Central Administration Site. To see the status go to your Sharepoint 2010 Central Administration Application (Run as Administrator). Under System Settings > Manage services on server make sure that “Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Sandboxed Code Service” service is started.
